May 2017

Hello again

Not a lot happened this month except for Mother's Day here in Oz and the music Eisteddfod  in Albany, so most of the photos will be of local fauna and flora!

Firstly - Mothers' Day.  Jo, John, Silvia, Emil, Maya and Benjamin Skyped me to wish me a Happy Mothers' (and Grandmothers') Day, which was lovely. Mike made me breakfast, then we had a leisurely morning and made a mini paella fro Mothers Day lunch. Afterwards we had a nice walk down to the little bridge and back along the Canning River.

The other family event was the Eisteddfod at the Albany Community Centre where Emil, Maya and Benjamin performed. Emil came 1st in his section playing the violin, and both Maya and Benjamin were Highly Commended. Maya played the violin and Benjamin played the cello.

A very happy family at the Eisteddfod!

Maya also went on a school camp and had a great time.

Benjamin very recently went on a school camp as well, with John acting as a 'parent helper', but he hasn't had time to send me any photos yet, so I'll put them up next time.

Now here's some photos of local stuff......

These pelicans took advantage of the barriers.......

....provided by the workmen doing work on the weir.....

......not sure if this one was yawning or not!.....

....view of the work in progress.

Swan and cygnets at the weir...

......out for a stroll.....

......then Mike thinks these are the same pair with their cygnets that he saw another day on the Canning River near Riverton Bridge.....

..hope the water wasn't too cold for the young ones!

A lovely view of the river
A colourful bush catching the morning sun on my morning walk

Here's some photos taken around our house.......

Well that's all for now - hopefully there will be more news next time!
