Here’s the news for July! Some interesting ‘goings on’ this month, starting with John’s birthday, then Emil’s stay with us before going to Bali with the rest of his family, a family get together and culminating with some Art Awards. So here we go!
John’s birthday (taken by Emil and sent by email to me)

We had Emil to stay with us for a week before he went off to Bali with the rest of the family. We went to see Ice Age Four with him and also took him to Perth Zoo where we had a lovely, though tiring, day going round everything except the Autralian Bush section, as we can do that any time anywhere here, unlike all the overseas tourists!
Emil

Emil also did a good job of accompanying our little singing group on his ukulele. The ladies were quite impressed!
Here's a photo of him standing with a portrait of his dad, John at 12 years old, which Mike painted some years ago!
We also met up with Jo on a walk by the river

A very old tortoise!

John, Silvia and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their holiday in Bali and I expect John will eventually be putting some photos up on his web photo page – but they may not be for awhile yet as they are still busy with the new house. When they got back, we managed to arrange a family get together with Jo, Si and the girls which was lovely as it’s difficult to fit these things in when everybody is so busy and John and Silvia don’t get the chance to come up to Perth very often.
Here some photos of us all:

The rest of the family are well and busy as usual. Simon is still working on getting his latest Hal Spacejock Jnr book for kids published and has two published now and the 3rd should be ready for Christmas. For our Aussie friends and family, you can get them from this link -
Hal Jnr 1 or 2
and these are the links for our UK family and friends. Hal Jnr 1 Hal Jnr 2
Simon's Hal Spacejock Snr books can also be seen via Simon’s website link Spacejock
(Mike is also hoping to publish some of his books soon in a similar way.)
Jo, Alex and Lizzie are still painting and studying!
Here’s some photos of Alex and Lizzie collecting their latest awards.

Jo also won an award but was unable to be there to collect it.
Now here's some photos of our garden.....
Geraldton Wax

....and a frosty,misty sunrise........

....and a funny moon!

I’m continuing to bowl 2 or 3 times a week even though it’s the winter season. The weather has been good to us bowlers so far with lots of lovely sunny but chilly days, although rain is being forecast again for the immediate future.
Mike’s appointment to see a specialist re his knee has been postponed, we have been told, due to pressure of more important surgeries. When we last spoke to our Dr, she said that it would probably have to be a repair job, not just an arthroscope, so we got the wrong end of the stick there! We must listen more carefully in future, chuckle! Mind you, if they keep him waiting too long, it may turn out to be a whole knee re-construction, but we hope not. In the meantime, he is working on the books of his Spanish walks.
Just to keep you going - some more river photos!
