January 2013

Hi all

Here’s the news for January! Once again I am putting up photos rather than a lot of text as I know most of you prefer to look rather than read, chuckle!

The hydraulics
Firstly here's Mike with his adapted wheels and backpacks which he hopes to be able to use if he goes walking in Spain again this year. It took him quite a while to sort it all out, but he now has 'Mike made' hydraulics on the trolley!

Also his Historical Novel about the Moors and the Christians is now published on Amazon books and here are the 'Look inside' inks:

Between the Sword and the Wall - Amazon.com  (Our Aussie friends and rellies can contact Mike if they are interested as there is no Amazon Australia as yet)

Between the Sword and the Wall - Amazon.co.uk for our UK friends and rellies

For our friends and rellies in other countries, type www.amazon.es (or .de or .dk. or .ch or whatever) and then type Between the Sword and the Wall in the search bar and Mike's book should come up.

Emil and Maya had their birthdays this month, and although we couldn’t get down to Denmark (WA) to be with them, John gave us some photos of them when they came to visit on the Australia Day weekend. One of the presents he had was a Japanese Maple Tree.

Mike and I had a lovely day out in Fremantle recently, starting off with a lovely meal at Bennie's Bistro  - we've been there before and they always do excellent food. Unfortunately only Mike could have wine with it, as I had been bitten on the finger by a spider a couple of days before so had to have a tetanus injection and was on anti-biotics with advice not to drink while taking them :-( ! It was called 'Surf and Turf' - fillet steak with creamy garlic sauce, king prawns and scallops!

Surf and Turf - yummy!

Walking ads for Freo markets!

The Freo Ferris Wheel
Jo has been busy recently doing a 'plien aire' art course - which she thoroughly enjoyed, even though they began at 6am in the mornings! Alex and Lizzie also enjoyed their holiday with Tricia and John in Bali.

Bowls news -  our 1st Division Green Pennant team isn't doing too well this year, as it's quite a big change coming up from 2nd to 1st, but we're trying hard and hoping to at least keep from dropping back down to 2nd division. We have 4 more games to play.

I have managed to reach the finals of the Plate in the Ladies Championship Singles, so will tell you how I go in next month's blog!

Weather wise it has been a very hot month here and we have been struggling to keep cool. However swimming in the pool and using the air-con when necessary has helped a lot, chuckle!

Well, that’s about it for now. Mike may be updating his Mike Downunder blog too during the next few days, so you might like to visit it too a bit later on. At moment he is suffering from a bad cold.

Enjoy! See you all again next month.
