February 2013

Hello everybody

Well February has really flown, hasn't it. I know it's a short month, but I can't believe that we're into March already, so thought I'd better get on with the February blog otherwise I might miss it altogether!

The birthdays this month were Daniel's, Thomas's and Matt's - yes all in the same month! We celebrated them at Matt's & Aveni's and had a lovely time watching all the excitement of opening presents. Here are some photos.
Here come the cakes!

Blowing out the candles

Thomas cutting his cake........

...and Daniel cutting his.
Now everybody gets 2 pieces!

We also celebrated Jo and Simon's Anniversary at the same time!

We spent one Sunday with Denis and Louise up at Gidgegannup and had a lovely lunch with them and were visited by the local kangaroos! As you can see from the photos they are rather partial to apples, chuckle!

Salmon loaf with new potatoes and salad - yummy!

Now here's the roos and the apple!

At the beginning of the month Mike spent a lot of time getting our old sewing machines to work, then even more time making 4 pairs of long cargo pants (2 pairs each) into pants with zip off legs so they can be worn as short or as long trousers!  A few days after he'd finished I bought  new sewing machine in a sale, which would have made things a lot easier!

He has also been walking as much as he can trying out and making adaptations to the trolley for his big backpack, so that he doesn't have to carry it all the time. This will be a great help if he decides to walk in Spain again this year. The latest adaptation is this white holey piece which will protect the spring and plunger so that it is less likely to get damaged on the journey.

Jill and me just before our singles game - she won!
I have now come to the end of Pennants (bowls) but unfortunately we didn't end up at the top of the ladder in 1st division - as we had in 2nd division - but almost at the bottom!  Consequently we will be back to 2nd division next season. Never mind, we all did the best we could.

We had a very jolly wind up as one of our male club members brought along his Karaoke machine and a lot of us made fools of ourselves and also did some dancing. It was a good end to the season.

Also not much luck in the Ladies Club Championships this year, the best we got was Runners Up in the Majors of the Fours. Still there's always next year, chuckle!

Jo, Si and the girls are all busy, Simon with his writing and Jo with her art and lessons. Alex is still busy studying art and she is also teaching Seniors Citizens now! Lizzie has been busy with school exams this past month and has hopefully done well as she usually does.

John, Silvia and the children have also been busy with their drama, music and lots of interesting school stuff! We manage to keep up with what's going on down there via Skype.

We have had some nice walks to the weir - yes, I do sometimes join Mike if it's cool enough and he's only going half way round his usual circuit!

To finish here's a photo of roses from our garden, and from Mike's walks, cockatoos, a black swan and periwinkles in the rain!

Enjoy! See you all again next month.
