Episode 2 - Copenhagen and Sweden
Back to Steve and Ulla's
We
had a nice calm journey on a very fast
catamaran back to Copenhagen. We managed to catch the
right train to Steve’s (though we nearly went the wrong way first!) and
were there by about 7.40pm. As you can imange Ulla had cooked us another
lovely
meal and the wine flowed uncontrollably, chuckle! Mike was well away
when we
went to bed.
Next day we took a bus to town for some sightseeing around Copenhagen.

We then met up with Steve and
Ulla’s son Justin for a typical Danish ‘open sandwich’ lunch – loads of
different fish and meats with salads which you put on various types of bread –
it was lovely.

Sunday morning Steve and Ulla took us, via a ferry, to the house in Sweden and we arrived there mid afternoon after stopping for a coffee on the way. It’s a lovely house and after a drink Steve and Ulla got stuck into the gardening and watering. It was another beautiful day!

We helped a bit and had a mooch round,
then Steve took us for a drive around the area and we visited a lake and some other lovely view points. It really is a lovely area.
We got back about 5.30pm and Ulla made Bruchetta’s for a snack! We are really eating lots of food here! Later we cooked a whole pike/perch (pickerel) for tea on the BBQ with BBQ’d red peppers, courgette and asparagus, with new potatoes! Delicious!. This was followed by fresh strawberries – and it was all accompanied by too much wine! We finally went to bed about 11pm I think.
Next morning Mike went for a short walk along what used to be a railway line.

Steve and Ulla worked in the garden, while I relaxed, chuckle!

Later Steve drove us all round the big lake.......
and we stopped to take photos of a very old building which had been the Swedish Official Residence for Regimental Commanders (1678 - 1817) and later was a Royal Castle (1818 -1900). It is still used for Wedding Receptions etc to-day!
It was another perfect day! We stopped in Hallervik, by the sea for hot smoked salmon and bloaters, bread, biscuits and apples and had them for a picnic lunch on the sea front.

We then drove to Solvesborg, parked by the
port, and walked through the old town to look at the church.
Afterwards we drove to the supermarket in Brollema for the paella stuff, which turned out to be a good one even though Mike and Steve had to cook it in a wok, lol!
Next day – another perfect one weatherwise, we packed our bags then me and Mike went for a walk while Steve and Ulla did some last minute chores round the house.
