October 2016

Hello again
How quickly time passes!
We have had 3 birthdays this month, the first one being Mike's 77th.......

A very nice bottle of Champagne from Jo

The birthday Boy! We couldn't find another 75 candles!

Marion and Bill sent him this little hip flask. The small writing says 'Take 3 times a day, before meals, after meals and whenever you feel like it!'
John and family also gave him a bottle of Spanish Rioja red wine.

There were just the two of us to celebrate it, but we had good food and plenty of wine anyway, chuckle! John and all the family down there Skyped him to sing Happy Birthday and Marion and Bill telephoned so everyone was there in thought!

Next was Lizzie's birthday. She called on us with her boyfriend Nathan to collect her cards and presents, so we had a nice hour or so of chatting to catch up with all her news.

Lastly came my 75th birthday which me and Mike celebrated a day early by going out for breakfast after I had opened my cards and presents with a cuppa in bed. The weather was pretty lousy, so we didn't go far, but ended the day with a nice roast beef dinner (with plenty of wine to go with it!). We celebrated early as I was playing bowls most of the actual day in the Divorced Pairs. (This means you cannot play with your usual bowling partner). It is always a good fun day so thanks to everyone who helped to organise it. I was lucky to have a good partner and we won the Runners Up prize, which was a very nice birthday present!

Before the game...

With Brian after getting the Runners Up prize!
The weather was just right for bowls, though a little windy towards the end, and Mike had my dinner all ready when I got home. I also spoke to all the WA Denmarkians and Marion and Bill on Skype so it was a lovely day.

Apart from the birthdays, other news is that Mike it getting over his hernia op OK though it's been hard trying to stop him doing things he shouldn't be doing yet! He sees the surgeon for his after op check up this coming week and hopefully will get a good report.

All the family are well and very busy as always.
Here's a few local photos we've taken.

Our first rose of summer
Bottle brush

Ducklings on the river

Canoe lessons at the weir.
Well, that's it for now. Hopefully I'll be back again next month!
Enjoy!
