November 2017

Hi everyone

Firstly my husband and I - (said in a posh accent!) - that means me and Mike - would like to wish you all a very

MERRY CHRISTMAS

and a

HAPPY, HEALTHY & PROSPEROUS

NEW YEAR!

This month we went down to Denmark (WA) for the Brave New Works festival which was a very hectic but extremely enjoyable time! All of John and Silvia's family were involved in various events, so we had a hard time keeping up with them all, chuckle!

Here's a link to the official festival video which will give you an idea of how much was going on. (If you look hard you should be able to catch glimpses of all of us except Maya unfortunately, but I'm sure I shall find her somewhere amongst the loads of photos we took which I will also add to this blog.)

Mike also took some video showing John and Emil playing with the Sneeches Band, and Silvia singing with other women about using fabric bags instead of plastic bags for supermarket shopping to help the environment.

Now here's some of the photos we took! Firstly this is one of the few we had of Maya. Here she is with her friend playing and singing a song they wrote. The quality of the photo is poor as I took it on my mobile and the light was very dim. However the quality of the performance was very good indeed!

Now we start on the rest of the Denmark photos! There are a lot, but hopefully you'll enjoy seeing them.

Some of John's sand writing.........and....

....John with helper Benjamin going off to do some in town!
(You may not be able to see it, but they both had 'Slow, men at work' signs on their hats, and various other funny ones on their T-shirts!)

On the Saturday, there was a big street parade, with lots of people all dressed up and joining in and having great fun!

These folk were very well dressed up and the 'old' colonial gentleman was a real comedian!

Here are some photos of the Sneeches Band who John and Emil played with. They all had a great time! (John is in the long red coat playing bass clarinet and Emil is playing the violin)

Warming up.......

...and on their way along the main street....

.....into one of the shops...

......crossing the road.....

....here's the rest of the parade, everyone heading for the supermarket!

In the Youtube link at the start of the blog, you will have seen them actually playing in the supermarket!
John, looking very serious for a moment, with Emil in the background

In the evening we went to see Emil in the all male
Emil after the outdoor performance
dance group (Great Southern Men) in the outdoor performance called The Beauty Index. It was very well done visually and the dancing was really well performed. It was one of those shows where you put your own interpretation on it, so we each had our own ideas about it, which was very interesting. You might catch a glimpse of Emil in it in the Youtube link too, though it's a very quick glimpse.

Here's lovely photo we took of John and Silvia during our visit

While we were in Denmark we also had some nice walks as usual, along the inlet and the river.......

and here are some of Maya and Benjamin looking for 4 leaf clovers in their garden (we found loads this time too!)

a Bronze Wing pigeon
Just before we came home, we went with John and Jo for one in the Mt Lindsay National Park.

Views on the way up........

Refreshments before we head back

Jo resting in a very convenient place - good for the back!

A last look at the view......

....and wild flowers....

...before heading back to the car park......

...where Maisie fell into the boot!

(I was trying to sit on the coolest part of the bumper, chuckle!)

Just to finish off, here's a couple of photos taken in our locality when we got home.

One of the lovely Jacarandas which are all out in full bloom now.

Mike tried to get a photo of a Kingfisher the other day, but they move so fast this is the best he could do.

That's it for now, the next one maybe late as we have all the Christmas and New Year celebrations coming up, and may be a little under the weather for a while afterwards - hic! hic!

Once again, we wish you all the very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from all the family here in Australia!

Enjoy!
