Hi all
Here we are again with another month gone already!
We have 3 birthdays this month, Mike's, Lizzie's and mine. Other than that, there's not been a lot happening, so we'll start with the birthdays.
For Mike's we walked to the Canning River Cafe at Kent St weir for a sumptuous breakfast, and also met our friend Heather there, which was very nice. The weather was a little chilly but sunny.
Happy Birthday Mike! |
Near the cafe are these lovely 'paw' plants.
On the way back home, we stopped to take some photos of the still flooded areas near the weir, which they are still working on!
Work in progress on the weir.......
.......and the flooded areas, which since have dried out quite a bit.

Mike on one of the boardwalks leading to a picnic table, the base of which was practically underwater!
Lizzie's was the next birthday, but unfortunately she couldn't get round to pick up her presents as she was - and still is - in the middle of exams, and had a lot of studying to do, as well as still doing her work training, which she is enjoying. She will pop round when the exams are finished in early November.
Maya went on a walking 'camp' with her class, and we managed to get a couple of photos of her via John. It was quite a long hike they did, from Boat Harbour to Parrys Beach - about 12 kms - but it looks as if it was all worth the effort!

Here's me, and a lovely bunch of our freesias which Mike picked for me the other day.
Lastly was my birthday. Mike had treated me to a patio size Rottisserie/convection oven - which works extremely well.
The day before my birthday I had played in a fun game at the bowls club called 'Divorced Pairs'. This means that you can't play with your usual partner, so I played with a friend's hubby, and she played with my usual partner. We won 2 games out of 3, but no bowls prizes, but we did get a lucky card - $10 voucher each to spend at our local IGA shop, and I also won 3rd prize in the raffle, which was 4 bottles of wine!!! (hic, hic!) Mike had dropped me off in the morning so I could have a drink with my friends to celebrate my birthday and he came down and joined us, so it was a very nice ending to an enjoyable day. We meant to take some photos, but forgot!
However, here's one we took before we went out for my birthday lunch with our friend at Canning River Cafe.

Jo sent me her lovely painting of these 2 Blue Wrens for my birthday card, and had left some 'Dark Side' hand crafted chocolates from Denmark with Mike to give me from her.
I also had a phone call from my sister Marion and Bill, and John, Silvia and the kids which was lovely, and the weather to-day is absolutely lovely. John and Silvia said they would spoil me when we go down next, so I am making this birthday last as long as possible, chuckle!
Liz and Alex also sent me birthday wishes, as did several other relatives and friends.
Here's what Alex said about her 2nd German exam (she passed the 1st one with flying colours and was top of her class) when I asked her how she did "Yes I did very well! I had a presentation to give in German and the teacher said she was really impressed which I feel really happy about considering I had to move into a class way above my level!"
So well done Alex! we are very proud of you.

Here's another one of Alex and Dan. They certainly look as if they are enjoying themselves!
That's it for now.
Enjoy!
