August 2018

Hello again

This month's blog includes Benjamin's 11th birthday and a 'brunch' with Jo, Alex, Liz and Nathan, and some photos of our local river in flood.

I'll start with Benjamin's birthday and the photos John sent, as we were unable to go down to Denmark (WA) for it.

Benjamin - King for the day!

The Cake - looks yummy!
Opening presents

Benjamin and friends had a Treasure Hunt in the nearby woods. Here they are 'attacking' Emil (or was it John?) in order to find the treasure, chuckle!

Benjamin back home with the treasure chest.
It appears a good time was had by all!

We were lucky enough to get Liz and Nathan and Alex to meet up at the Kent Street weir cafe for brunch on a very lovely Sunday morning.
Jo had text me earlier to ask me to let her know when we were all there so she could talk to the girls on Skype, which I did.  We were just getting our orders ready when Jo suddenly appeared!
She had driven all the way up from Denmark so she could be there too! She'd stopped overnight in Williams at a B and B, then drove from there early on the Sunday morning to be with us as a surprise!
We had a lovely couple of hours chatting and catching up with all the news, as well as a superb 'brunch' and lovely weather. Afterwards we went for a short walk before going home, while Jo went shopping with Alex and Liz and Nathan went off to Bunnings, a huge hardware store.
Later Jo text to say she was on her way to Williams and would stop over there again on her way back to Denmark.
Here's a couple of photos of us all.

......and Jo, Liz, Nathan, Mike and Alex.

Only a couple of days afterwards we had some terrific rainfall, which flooded our local river area. It was more than we had ever seen since we've lived here! Here's some photos of the river where the little bridge is, and a very short video clip.

Near the bridge it came right across the path as you can see from the photo below

The little bridge, which was flooded both sides.

Here's the very short video clip of the river in flood - you can also hear some lovely bird songs.

The photo below is of the first blooms of our freesias - so Spring is just around the corner!

That's it for this month. See you all again next time, hopefully.

Enjoy!
