August 2019

Hi all

This month was pretty hectic at the beginning as we went down to Denmark for the High School Musical, and Silvia also had a Storytelling workshop on, and then there was Benjamin's 12th birthday the following weekend, so it was all systems go!
Here's some of the photos, starting with the Storytelling - The Storytelling Drum - which was done by 3 people in Silvia's group, The Spindle of Spoken Story, which she runs with her friend Nicky, and afterwards by a lady from Sydney who told stories while playing a frame drum. Unfortunately we didn't get any photos of her, and the ones of Silvia were not too good either as there was so much movement and actions with the stories, which were very good.

The following evening we went to the Denmark Senior High School musical, a skit on 'Happy Days' which was extremely good. Emil played the villain, Count Myron Malachi - one of the 3 Malachi brothers. Maya was one of Mini Pinkettes - followers of Pinky Tuscadero, one of the main followers of the Fonz. Emil's girlfriend Chenoa, played one of the 'girlfriends' of the boys in the show. Here's some photos taken by the school photographer and shown on Facebook, and a couple Mike took.

It was a really good production with about 90 students in the cast all thoroughly enjoying themselves and putting everything they'd got into it!
During the time between the play and Benjamin's birthday, we managed to get a few walks and outings in, in between downpours of rain - there was actually hail one time!
Here are some photos Mike took when we had one of our walks along the river.

Also during the week, while we were staying at Jo's, we went to Albany and Walpole searching the Op shops for bargains, and as the one in Walpole was closed, we stopped at the toffee factory on the way home for a look round. We also had dinners at John and Silvia's, as well as many nice meals out and at Jo's - see photos below.

Before we left, on the day we were going home, we went with Jo up to John and Silvia's to have the Birthday Breakfast or Benjamin's 12th birthday! This was great fun as he had loads of presents and we took far too many photos, so I've picked out the best  I took here......

good laugh at Benjamin reading Emil's card which had writing which got smaller and smaller!!

Benjamin showed us the church he is building. The church plan was on cardboard which he had to cut out and put together, then stick on all the tiny bricks! He loves building and making things.

John sent us this photo of him showing a tray of biscuits he made with the biscuit maker. They are just ready to go into the oven - yummy! When we spoke to him on the phone he said they tasted good as well!

Now we're back home, here's some photos of a misty morning and the flowers in the garden which are already coming into bloom although it isn't officially Spring here until Sunday, 1st September!

I won't be putting up a blog next month (September) as my sister Marion and her daughter Trudi are coming over to celebrate Mike's 80th on 1st October, so we are at the mo spring cleaning like mad and preparing for their visit, so not having the time to take any photos, chuckle!

There should be a good blog with Mike's birthday celebration photos and other events at the end of October when I do the next blog.

Enjoy!
