Hi all
Not a lot of news this month, as we celebrated our John’s birthday at the end of last month, when they came to visit. (We gave you news of this in last month's blog for June)

Early in July we went to the farm to celebrate the other John in the family’s birthday. It was a lovely afternoon and John had lit a huge bonfire, which the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Unfortunately Mike forgot to take his camera, so we have no photos of it, but we do have one of big John!

We also went to Alex’s school play which was very good. She played several different parts, all very clearly spoken and with the appropriate emotions. It was quite a serious play called ‘Fear and Misery of the Third Reich’ and told the story of how the anti Nazi Germans were treated during the run up to WW2. Once again, we have no photos!
Finally, we met up with the USLOT girls (our former singing group) except for Peg who couldn’t make it this time. We had a lovely lunch at Little Nich’s. They all came back to our place for coffee, and I was persuaded once more to start up the group again, just for ourselves this time, so we could have a weekly sing, with no pressure for me arranging gigs etc.

In between these events – and the awful weather we’ve been having – Mike has continued to walk each morning when he could and paint his pictures in the afternoons. Look on his ‘painting blog’ to see the latest ones. I have been going to bowls, weather permitting! Here’s some photos Mike took on his walks.

Jo Simon and the girls are all still busy doing their various activities and school stuff and John and Silvia and the kids are also doing all the usual school and work stuff down there. John and Silvia have signed a contract with the builder, so work will be starting any day now on their new house – weather permitting!
Well that’s about it for this month. Hopefully there will be more news next month, chuckle!
