August 2011

Hi all

How time flies! Another month gone already! Here’s the news for August.

Benjamin celebrated his 4th Birthday this month, and although we were not able to be there, John sent us lots of photos so I will put some of them here. The first one is of him opening presents in bed. The rest were at school and at his party lot at home.

John also sent some of their block, where building has at last got underway!
The latest news is that the concrete has now ben laid!

Silvia also sent us this information – Sorry Silvia! As you know I've been working on some Netbook problems and didn’t quite have time to get this blog done early enough for the Blue Room showing, but anyone who’s down in Denmark on 10th might like to go and see it! :

Abridged quote from Silvia: "Below is some info on The Yellow Wallpaper theatre production (that I wrote the script for) that runs at the Blue Room Theatre until September 3rd, 7pm (Tuesday to Saturday) and will come to Denmark for one performance on the 10th of September at 8pm (doors and bar open at 7.30pm) at the Denmark Civic Centre. Tickets are $25 full price and $20 concession for both venues - buy them at the blue room in Perth or at Spot News in Denmark.”

Emil and Maya and still enjoying school and doing well.

Jo, Simon and the girls have also had a busy month with lots of Art shows and Alex and Lizzie have also won themselves some good prizes!
Mike and Jo were not so lucky this time! Lizzie also won a prize for a poem she wrote for a Schools competition, and both the girls had very good school reports.

Mike and I went to a 40th Wedding Anniversary celebration at the club, for my Pennant Skip, Linda and her husband Dave, which was very good. Unfortunately the few photos we took, did not come out well enough to upload.

In between these events – and the unpredictable weather we’ve been having – Mike has continued to walk each morning when he could and paint his pictures in the afternoons. Look on his Mike's Paintings blog to see the latest ones. I have been going to bowls and trying to solve various computer problems! Apart from that we have also managed to fit in some clearing up and gardening outside.

Here’s some photos Mike took on his walks, one of my African Violets and some of our garden flowers. Our Freesias are particularly good this year, with a huge range of colours. (We were pleased to see Dolphins once more in the Canning River this month, but they are always too quick for us to get any good photos!)

We have also started up USLOT again (our little singing group), though I’m not sure how long we will be able to keep going, as I’m still having voice problems if I sing for too long, and the summer bowls season is almost upon us and that takes up a huge amount of my time, chuckle! Anyway, we shall see how we go. We certainly are very rusty at the moment but always have a good laugh when we get together for practice, which is the main thing really!

Well that’s about it for this month. Hope you all have a good September!
