September 2011

Hello again! Well there's quite a few photos this month of various things, but first I'll give you the news of events which I have no photos for, chuckle! Firstly, we celebrated Father's Day. Jo and family came round for tea and we had a very nice evening. Lizzie won a prize for a poem she wrote in a schools competition and Alex has yet again won another award recently for one of her paintings! She has also left school now. Our USLOT singing group is still practising once a week, but we still need lots more practice and also I don't usually find time to prepare anything before they all arrive which doesn't help, chuckle! In between other events Mike is continuing to walk and paint.
I am still playing a lot of bowls and the Ladies Championships start soon.

OK, now we can get to the photos! If you want to see them bigger, just click on them, then click on the back arrow button (usually top left) to get back to the blog page.
Firstly, here's Benjamin and Maya's school photos. Hopefully we will have one of Emil for next month's blog.

The next ones are a few of the progress of John and Silvia's house:

Now here's a few of our recent week's holiday in Denmark (WA) with John and family

We saw some sea lions at Ocean Beach, which came quite close to us - the 2nd photo is a close up.

A little blue wren outside our van
I should add here that this rock is next to another similar which Mike fell onto when he slipped on the steps getting out of the van! He was very lucky not to have really hurt himself as he landed on his back and we thought he might also strike his head on the rock!

Now here's a superb example of one of Western Australia's flowers, which we spotted in the town, and some other wild flowers we found on our walks.
.
Yes! We walked in the rain too!

Here's a photo of Emil with his Honour Certificate he got from school which says (I think!): 'Always trying his best in all learning areas and for being a courteous and considerate class member'

The last day we were there, the Denmark Centenary was on and these photos are of some of the street happenings and the parade.
Emil playing tennis - right hand side of the net

Now he's trying to dunk his teacher (I think)

Then he needed more money to spend, chuckle, so went busking for a little while!

Some old cars on display by the river.

Some of the parade

Here you can see Silvia and Maya in the centre of the picture. All you can see of Benjamin are his red boots and a bit of his green jumper! (Behind the lady in the blue jeans)

John and his friends - their group is called De Nada and they play mostly Spanish/South American music.

Here's Emil with the 'sculture' made from various cut offs of wood.

....and lastly (back home) an old Ford we spotted while walking here locally along by the river.

Well that's it for now - next month hopefully there will be photos of Mike's, Lizzie's and my birthdays.
Don't forget to keep an eye on Mike's blogs
- Mike's Paintings and Mike Downunder
which he will also update shortly.
See you all again soon!
