Here’s the news for April! It’s not been so hectic this month, though we have had 3 birthdays!
Firstly here’s a photo of us 2nd Division ladies, taken at the end of the Pennants Season, who have now been promoted to 1st Division for the coming season! It was a really big achievement for us and we all worked very hard to make it happen!

We celebrated our 51st Wedding Anniversary this month, and had a small celebration at home with some of the family.

We finally finished our kitchen renovation, except for one cupboard still to be built under the left hand side worktop. We had a small fault with the oven, which would not work on ‘automatic’ properly, but had very good after sales service from the makers, who sent a man to replace the faulty timer and all has been OK since. Here’s a photo showing all the aluminium strips Mike made now in place.

Dieter celebrated his 70th birthday this month, and they had planned to go down to Denmark to celebrate with Silvia and John and all the family, but unfortunately poor Liesel broke her leg a few days before they were due to leave, and was in hospital on the big day. John rang and told us so we quickly arranged for Dieter to come and have a celebration dinner with us at home that evening, so as not to let the day go by without some sort of celebration!
Next came Jo’s birthday, and as I was playing I in the Championship Mixed Fours that day, Mike popped round to wish her a Happy Birthday and give her present to her, and managed to get a birthday photo.

I saw her the next afternoon when I went to join her and Mike at the Cannington Arts Group show of arts and crafts where they both had stalls. Once again, Mike had no luck selling any paintings, but quite a bit of interest in them.
Dieter and Liesel managed to get down to Denmark in time for a few days with John, Silvia and the family before the grandchildren went back to school, and to at last celebrate his birthday with them on Silvia’s birthday before they came home.

To finish off, here’s some photos Mike has taken on his walks this month. There’s not as many as usual as he has been having trouble with his knee and leg and has not been able to walk everyday.

And here's a couple of photos - a bit dark - of a Rainbow Lorikeet that came to have a bath outside our lounge room window!

Well, that’s about it for now. Mike has updated his Valladolid, Segovia, Avilla, Madrid blog pages - the side trip he did by bus, after Cuadonga. If you want to read about and see the photos of that, clink on these links:
