May 2014

Hello again - I can't believe we're nearly halfway through the year already!

Mother's Day was the first event this month, and we spent it with Jo and family and had a lovely tea, then played cards afterwards, which was great fun. Here's some photos:

The work on the pool surrounds has progressed steadily and we can at last see it coming to an end, with just some finishing touches to do and pot plants to put around.

Fences down for repainting
Drying off

Back up again.....

....with pavers to stop the weeds!
Before....
When it was too wet to paint (it's winter here now!) Mike replaced the opaque sheets over the laundry door and car port as they had got really bad and dirty.

....after!
Here's the pool area as it looks up to now

Palm tree removed and corner area paved

The last trowel-ful!

It's been a lot of hard work for Mike. As well as all the fence painting, the cutting and laying of the pavers took a lot of time, and he also had to dig out all the weeds and couch grass at the far end of the pool and put black plastic sheet down to try to stop them coming up again. I have been helping where and when possible, like sweeping in sand to fill in the gaps between the pavers and helping to get the fences out and back in again - and of course making cups of tea, and special lunches and dinners to keep him going, chuckle!

Simon has been writing away as usual while Jo and Alex have been entering paintings in as many shows and competitions as is possible, chuckle! At the moment Lizzie is working hard for her exams, which are coming up shortly.

Recently John went with Emil's class and teacher and a couple of other parents on a walk from Peaceful Bay to Walpole - part of the Bibbulmen track. He took lots of photos, so here are a few for you to look at:

Setting off from Peaceful Bay

An overcast view

Ready to eat!

The 'crocodile' on it's way!

A sunny view this time

Hugging a huge tree on the way!

A song to keep them going

Preparing for breakfast.......

....and on the way again in the rain......

The last leg......

To finish off, here's a few photos from the garden.......

and along the river - when Mike had a break from all the work!

See you all again next month!
