May 2015

Hello again!

Well, there are lots of photos this month and a couple of videos, as it's been quite an eventful month.

We started off with Awards Night at the bowls club, which turned out to be a very pleasant evening with good food and entertainment, apart from the giving out of awards, chuckle! Here's some photos.

The following day was Mother's Day (in May in Australia). We walked to the weir, and in the evening we celebrated with Jo, Si, Alex and Lizzie and Tricia and John. It was a very nice evening.

3 mums and Lizzie!

Happy Mum's Day fruit cake.......
.....and apple pie!

Later in the month Silvia had a workshop in Fremantle, so she brought Maya up with her to spend a long weekend with us. It was lovely to have her and we had a wonderful time!  We took her to see Shaun the Sheep the Movie, which was hilarious - me and Mike are kid's movie fans, as we like to see something funny when we go to the cinema - and we all thoroughly enjoyed it, chuckle! The rest of the day was spent playing various games.

Next day we took her to the Cohunu Koala/Wildfile Park in Byford. We had not been there for years and were quite impressed with how it was being run now. There was a variety of native wildlife there and also lots of talking parrots and it was these that impressed Maya the most!
Here's some photos, and 4 of short videos.

The lady in charge let Maya have her Rainbow Lorrikeet on her shoulder!

It tried to bite her earring....
....but behaved itself in the end!

Some of the guinea pigs.......

.......Maya with Blinky Bill.....
Wow! Good job this wasn't a real Sabre toothed tiger!

Some emus.....
......a peacock which put on a show for us....

....a pelican....
.....and friends......

....one of the deers.....

......and of course the kangaroos!

'Oh Joey! I do wish you'd grow up more quickly!'
Well, here I am with a kangaroo.....

..and there's Mike's hat in the mouth of the dinasour, and his sticks....but whatever happened to Mike!!
We also saw 2 ostriches, one of which also did a mating dance for us, but we didn't get the camera out in time to get it.
Now here's the videos.

On Maya's last day with us, we all rode bikes to Kent Street Weir where we had coffee/hot choclate/ice cream and a short walk along the river.
In the afternoon 3 of the ladies who used to sing with me and Mike came along to listen to Maya play the violin piece which she was practising for the Eisteddfod in Albany later in the week. She played very well and they were most impressed. (I should add here that in the Eisteddfod she got 83/100 and her brother Emil got 87/100 so they both did very well!) We really enjoyed her stay with us.

Other news: Alex has now passed her scooter driving test, and Lizzie's soccer team won their most recent game. Jo is still doing art exhibitions and recently Si has given some author talks as well as being busy decorating.

We have also been doing a bit of decorating in our spare time, chuckle! and have got all the house doors re-painted, which badly needed doing.

The Denmark Festival of Voice has been on this last weekend, so we may have some photos from John of that for next month's blog :-)

Well that's it for now until next month.
Enjoy!
