June and July 2015

Hi all

We didn't do a blog for June as we spent most of the month and half of this month clearing out and redecorating Mike's PC room! However we will make up for it now as since then it has been quite an eventful month.

Firstly we went to see Alex take her first Tae Kwando Black Belt test, which she passed with flying colours! Her boyfriend, Dylan, took his third one and he too did extremely well, as did his Dad, who is also a Black Belt. Here's some photos Alex sent us of the event.

.....then two!.....

Very proud parents and grandparents!

As I said previously, Mike has been clearing his room, so here's a couple of photos of before and after!

Half cleared out, before being redecorated and new floor and rug put down

Model Spitfire and Cutty Sark back in place after redecoration

Now complete with the new floor, rug and pictures!

The next 'event' for us here in Aus was.......FROST!.....which was quite thick! It was quite a surprise to see it when we woke up one morning. Brrrr!

John had to come up to Perth for a workshop for a couple of days, so we thought it would be a good idea if Benjamin could come and stay with us at the same time. We had great fun! The first day we took him to the Conhunu Koala/Wildlife park. Here's some photos and videos, though the videos are not of the best quality as if the files are too big, they won't upload.

Display from a PeaHen....

....and from  Peacock!

We also saw some cheeky talking parrots, one of which bit both me and Benjamin!........

Oops! We nearly lost Benjamin to the Sabre Toothed tiger!

Here's an Emu..and the tail of a huge Scorpion! (model)

Benjamin amongst the water birds....

....and he's not afraid of this Dinosaur.....

...or this one, though I think Granddad is!

and of course there were Kangaroos.....

....and we also had a bit of a show from an Ostrich.....

The next day we took Benjamin on the train - which was something he doesn't get to do very often - to SciTech in Perth, which he thoroughly enjoyed, dashing from one thing to another to try everything!. We didn't take any photos as he didn't stay still long enough, chuckle! But he bought a little model aeroplane in the Gift shop which he, with a little help from Mike, made up when we got home.
They didn't manage to fly it, but the next day, when his Dad was home with us, they got it to fly. I managed to get this little snippet of video of it when I went across to the park with him (not very good I'm afraid, as I couldn't follow it fast enough.)

Here's some photos of it. Benjamin has to wind it up by the propeller about 140 times to make the rubber band twist up very tight.

Winding it up

Here you can see how fast it is going, by the way the trees are all blurred!

Well, that's about it for now. Hope you enjoyed it! See you next month (maybe!)
