March 2018 and Easter

Hello once again!

This is only a small blog, as we didn't get out to take too many photos in March as Mike was recuperating from his hernia op, but I have included the Easter photos as well. Also I am still struggling with learning all the ins and outs of my new Mac laptop, so it is taking me twice as long to do the blog as it used to, chuckle!

My nephew Guy recently spent some time in Alicante, Spain doing a short University course, and knowing Mike is so interested in anything to do with the Camino walk to Santiago, sent us this photo of himself by the blue route sign pointing the way from Alicante to Santiago! (If you click on it it should come up bigger)

John also sent us a photo of the stone walling he has been doing behind their house, and it is certainly pretty good for a first attempt, considering the rocks are hard granite and not easy to make into the right shape!

We were recently visited by a pair of 28 parrots. We don't see many of them these days what with the abundance of the corellas (white cockatoos) rainbow lorikeets, and other birds, so it was nice to have them around. This one thought he might like to have a look inside the house, by perching himself of the wall right outside the lounge room window, chuckle!

Now here's the Easter photos. John, Silvia and family came up from Denmark as John and Emil had a couple of gigs with the Sneeches band in the Fremantle festival on Friday and Saturday, so they didn't get to us until Saturday evening, and also they would be going to Marga's belated 80th birthday party on Easter Sunday, which was also our wedding anniversary.
All these photos were taken on Easter Sunday. The painting on the wall behind us in our 57th anniversary photo is of Mike's Mum and Dad on their 50th anniversary, painted by Mike many years ago!
Needless to say, before breakfast there was a big chocolate Easter egg hunt! Breakfast was, of course, the traditional boiled eggs with faces drawn on them!

Our anniversary photo!

All the Easter eggs with faces drawn on them!

After breakfast John and Emil helped Mike check the gutters, which luckily were not blocked up anywhere, then Emil pumped up all the bike tyres and John helped me with some of my Mac laptop problems. Then they put on their party clothes and went off to Marga's party.

On Easter Sunday afternoon, Alex came to see us and we had a lovely long chat about her experiences while she was studying in Austria and she showed us some of her photos and videos. It certainly was a lovely area where she and Dan stayed. She is still also an Ambassador for Murdoch University, where she is still studying.

On Easter Monday John and Emil went off to do some busking with the Sneeches and Silvia went to a Art Exhibition in Perth. Maya and Benjamin had the option of going to either of those events, or stay home with us and swim in the pool, and play board games, which they opted for!  They were in the pool most of the morning, and after lunch we played 'Sorry' which was hilarious as all 4 of us each had trouble getting the last of our 4 men into their respective 'Home' s.

In the evening they all went off for the final gig in Fremantle, meeting up with Dieter and Marga later in the evening. We could have gone too, but Mike is still not quite up to big do's yet as he still gets tired easily (that goes for me too, chuckle!) We'd had a lovely time with Maya and Benjamin anyway.

On Tuesday morning they packed the car ready to leave, but we decided that rather than pack all the chocolate Easter eggs in the car, (they had been given more when they went to the party!), as it was a very hot day, they would leave them in our fridge for the time being. They went off so that Emil could buy himself a better violin than the one he had and do some other stuff in the city. They had been hoping to leave around lunch time, but by the time they got back it was about 2.30pm. I had lunch all ready on the table so they were able to get off quite quickly afterwards, but not before we had insisted on hearing a tune from Emil on the new violin. We did take a video of him playing and it was very good, but I still haven't sussed out how to edit and make smaller the file size, so I'm not able to put it on this blog.

Jo was unable to come up for Easter as she was house sitting for friends, but she spoke to us all on Skype to wish me and Mike Happy Anniversary and to say Happy Easter to all of us, which was lovely. We thanked her for the presents she had sent up with John.
My sister Marion from the UK, who was staying with Guy for Easter, also phoned to wish us Happy Anniversary, and we had quite a nice long chat.

Lizzie's news is that she is still busy working and studying and she and Nathan, who is now working full time, are sharing a rental house together.

I think that's about all the news for now - whether I shall get around to doing another blog next month remains to be seen, chuckle!

Enjoy!
