December 2018/part January 2019

Hello again
Here we are in 2019 already, and the blog is late because we took so many photos and videos over the Christmas and New Year holiday in Denmark WA. It was lovely to be with the family and we had a lovely time with, of course, too much eating and drinking and going out and about. Silvia's Dad and Marga were also there for Christmas, and on New Year's Day Alex and her boyfriend Chris, and Lizzie also came down for a flying visit, so it was lovely to see everyone. To save time and a lot of typing, I will put some photos up with captions, and some of the videos, which are not very good quality, but as small as I can make them.
So here we go!

This is the kingfisher Mike rescued on his walk before we went
down to Denmark,  which had fallen out of it's nest, so he put it back up into the tree

Now here are all the holiday photos

Here's John doing some sand
printing at the Christmas parade
with Benjamin and Mike looking
on, and Maya.
......close up......

Emil was playing in a gig - a bit of
video is below, with John and Silvia
amongst the dancers

Before Christmas, Emil launched the canoe he had got from the tip shop and repaired - with some help from John. It looked good in the water!

Here we all are before the launch.....

.......the canoe!.....

...which Emil christened The Black Sausage!...

....John and Maya....

....John and Jo....

....Emil and Emma (Benjamin's friend Ollie's mum)....

We stayed with Jo where she was house sitting while we were there,  and took these photos.

On the right is John reading a Christmas story - note 'real' candles on the tree! The fire extinguisher was close by!

The family trio - Maya, Benjamin and Emil

Here is a short video clip of Maya, Benjamin and Emil (family trio!) playing for us.....

....and Benjamin playing a solo.....

......and Maya and Emil playing a duet.

Not to be outdone by his offspring, here's John who is now learning the bass recorder!

The various Christmas cakes.....

Silvia's Pavlova.....

.....may Christmas cake.....

.....Marga's chocolate cake!

On Boxing Day John and Silvia had  quite a few friends round for silly games, the panto and 'turns'.
Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances (probably a little too much Christmas spirit!) most of the photos and videos of the afternoon and evening didn't come out too well, but here are a couple of them and a short video clip of a game of boules.

Guests on the lawn....

...the buffet was indoors....

....the younger contingent's panto.

On one of the days between Christmas and the New Year, everyone was busy with various things except me, Mike and Benjamin. As Emil was helping out at the local 'Thrills' park, we took Benjamin there for him to have a go on some of the things.

Benjamin going up and down the big tree, with the advice from Emil who was in charge of this event.

.....and safely down again!

Benjamin then had a go at Soccer Bubbles.....

.....and finally the Flying Fox.

Me and Mike had a go on the extremely tiny mini golf, chuckle!

Here's the photos of Jo and the girls when they came down on New Year's Day. They only had a short time with Jo, but I think they enjoyed it and what they saw of the locality. Hopefully they will visit Jo again soon.

Finally, here's one of the huge sunflowers Emil has grown, and a photo of him on his 17th birthday camping with the family.

That's it for now.  I shall put Maya's birthday photo and the rest of the January news (if any) on the February blog - at the end of February!

Enjoy!
