March and April 2019

Hello again

Here's the news and photos for the last 2 months. I'm afraid I'm finding it more and more difficult to find the time to do the blog which is why there are 2 months together here. The older you get the more time it seems to take to do things!!

Therefore there will be mostly photos with captions and not so much written news, chuckle!

I'll start with John and Silvia's anniversary in March.

John and Silvia on their Anniversary

Maya and Emil are in a violin group called 'Digging the Jig' and during March were rehearsing for their coming appearance at the annual Fairbridge Festival. Here's a couple of videos of them at a local gig.  Emil and Maya are playing in the front row - Maya with a big red hat on.

In this one Maya is in the front and Emil is just behind her,

We had a brief holiday with the family a couple of weeks before Easter. Silvia and Benjamin were away in Melbourne but we had a lovely time with the rest of them.
We went down to cheer ourselves up a bit and celebrated our anniversary there. John, Maya and Emil set us up a nice table and made us a special breakfast and Jo was also there.

One lunch time while Maya and Emil were at school, we also went out for a lovely lunch at the Forest Hill Winery. It was superb as usual.

How's this for 'modern art'? It was how our combined desserts plate looked after we'd finished sharing them, chuckle!.......

......and here we are coming out afterwards!

Me and Mike spent a restful afternoon another day at the Prawn Rock channel, which is the inlet near Ocean Beach and Mike took a couple of photos,

We also went to the 'waste' exhibition at the Civic centre while we were there. It's was a 'war on plastics' and how to re-cycle and make things for items which have been chucked out. Here's some of the things we saw.

with coloured LED lights inside which alternated in
various colours!

We had to come home the following week as we both had Dentist's appointments and also needed to check on the pool and garden, but we went down again for Easter and Jo's birthday! We stayed with John until Easter Monday as Liz and Nathan came to stay with Jo for a couple of days, but when they had gone we stayed with Jo for the last 3 days of our holiday.
Here's a couple of photos of John's gear for the Fairbridge Festival when he will be using his Sandprinter, and one of a practice run in Chinese!

Maya designed and painted the sunflower on the back!

On Good Friday it was really cold and we had enough hail for Benjamin and his friend to make a couple of small snowmen!

John lit the fire that night!

We celebrated Jo's birthday on the evening of 20th while everyone was there.

Here comes the cake - 7 layers and very yummy!

......and afterwards....

....with Silvia the cake maker!..

We liked this rather unusual view of Jo and the cake on the right.

......and with Jo

The cooks!

The following morning was Easter Sunday so the family tradition of boiled eggs with faces drawn on was followed.

In the afternoon we went fishing with John, Maya and Benjamin at Prawn Rock channel. Benjamin bet me that 'granddad' would catch a fish, and I said he wouldn't as usually he didn't manage to (though he does very occasionally!).  This time he did and here's the photo to prove it, chuckle!

The rest of the week we had lovely weather and spent most days going for walks, having coffee and raisin toast in our favourite cafe, and generally have a nice lazy time.

We really had a lovely time during both the short holidays we had.

Well that's it for now. Not sure when I'll be doing the next blog, but will send out an email when I do!

Enjoy.
