May 2019

Hello again
Here we are in May already! It's been a funny month weather wise here - a bit of everything and all very unseasonable. However it's been nice to have sunny days, even with the colder early mornings and evenings.
I'll start this time with a couple of photos John took at the Fairbridge festival which I forgot to include in last month's blog.

May and Emil on the camp site.
Luckily the weather stayed good for the camping!

Alex and Chris are now working in Adelaide, and we made a mini paella when they came to visit before they left. Unfortunately we didn't get a photo of them - just the paella!

We also have another visitor in our garden, who has been here the whole month and has become quite a pet.

Banded Garden Spider......

Banded Garden Spider or Agriope trifasciata, according info on the internet!

We were away for a few days recently, and when we came back, it's back side (top photo) seemed much smaller, and there was a kind of cocoon nearby, so we are wondering if maybe eggs had been laid, or maybe the original spider could have been eaten by another of the same kind, and left wrapped up for another day's dinner!
The spider is apparently quite harmless, though any spider bite can cause me a bit of trouble, chuckle!

The next event was John and Maya going off for a holiday in Spain. Here's a couple of photos of them at the beginning for their 'adventure'. (Nothing was planned except for the 1st stop in Madrid)
In Madrid

Waiting at the airport.

Since then, John has been putting loads of photos up on his page online, and they certainly seem to be enjoying themselves. Up to the time this blog is published, they have visited Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Villena, Jalon, Alfaz, Benidorm and are now in Valencia. I think they will be visiting Barcelona, then back to Madrid, but not sure on that one! They arrive back here next week.

Silvia and Benjamin brought them up and took them to the airport and after they left, we had Benjamin to stay with us while Silvia went to a conference in Perth. Here's a couple of photos we took of him.

Benjamin climbing a tree overhanging the river

He also amused himself making this Fox's head from special paper while he was here. It was very complicated, with lots of cuts and folds, but he made a very good job of it!

Last week we had another little break in Denmark with Jo. Benjamin had a very bad cold, and Silvia, her friend and Emil were preparing for events in the Festival of Voice which was on at the weekend, so we only saw them a couple of times during the week.  It was a nice break and we managed to get out and about a bit with Jo.

A beautiful peony in John and Silvia's garden
We found this 'dragon' on one of our walks along the river, chuckle!

Now here's some coastal scenes.

That's about it for now. We are expecting bad weather now for about a week, so winter is setting in!
See you in a month, hopefully.
Enjoy!
